||=== Oshun ===|
Oshun (also Ochun or Oxun) is the Yoruba Orisha (Orixa) and Goddess of love, fertility, and childbirth. She is also known to be an evenger of women and a protector of women in the marketplace. The youngest of the Orisha, she is also one of the most wealthy and generous and is symbolized by the River ("sweet water"), vultures, sunflowers, and often by butterflies. She also has an affinity for fans, peacocks, bells, and mirrors.
Oshun's colors are amber and yellow, and her number is 5. Necklaces for Oshun will often have 5 yellow beads alternating with 5 amber beads.
Until recently, Oshun's favorite metal was copper, as it was considered once to be the most precious metal available. Now gold is seen to be her favorite metal, as it has risen in value over copper.
Often she is hailed as "Yeye," which translates from Yoruba into "Mommy." She is one of the most popular and adored Orisha worshipped worldwide.
